One of the top Geotechnical Engineering firms in New York is looking for a CAD technician.

Your primary role involves collaborating with draftsmen, engineers, or architects, translating client blueprints and design schematics into precise computer-generated models through CAD software. Whether working independently or as part of a team, you’ll play a pivotal role in bringing client visions to life.

Job Summary:

Generate detailed drawings of architectural and structural elements for various projects, including civil engineering endeavors like highways, bridges, and public infrastructure. Utilize expertise in building materials, engineering principles, and mathematical concepts to produce accurate renderings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers, draftsmen, and designers to review and interpret blueprints and design plans.
  • Input design parameters into CAD software, crafting surface and solid CAD models to exact client specifications.
  • Create drawings using computer-assisted drafting systems (CAD) or traditional drafting methods, ensuring precision and adherence to project requirements.
  • Draft plans and detailed drawings for diverse structures, incorporating input from sketches, engineering calculations, and technical documents.
  • Analyze building codes, spatial requirements, and technical reports to inform architectural designs effectively.
  • Produce maps, diagrams, and profiles to represent topographical features and structural elements accurately.
  • Supervise field surveys and technical investigations to gather essential data for project revisions.
  • Compile measurements and data from job sites to inform architectural designs and material specifications.
  • Prepare cost estimates, contracts, and technical reports in collaboration with architects and engineers.
  • Represent the architect or engineer on construction sites, ensuring compliance with design specifications and advising on necessary adjustments.

Required and Preferred Qualifications:

Education:

  • Minimum two-year technical degree; bachelor’s degree in engineering or design preferred.
  • Proficiency in Drafting & Design, emphasizing applied science.

Skills:

  • Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD software, with familiarity in structural detailing.
  • Knowledge of support structures, excavation techniques, and wall bracing is advantageous.
  • Competency in AutoCAD functionalities such as file publishing, Xrefs, and layout viewports.
  • Familiarity with both Metric and English measurement systems, with expertise in 3D modeling.
  • Certification in Autodesk software and familiarity with Bentley MicroStation are beneficial.
  • Revit and BIM experience are a big plus.
