NonStop Consulting

Are you a Construction Inspection Engineer with a background in geotechnical engineering? We’re looking for a professional to join a highly reputable, large, and successful engineering firm specializing in geotechnical studies, excavation support systems, waterfront structures, and foundations in New York City.

Responsibilities include:

  • Inspection and logging of exploratory borings, directing sampling, and interpreting conditions encountered.
  • Observation and documentation of construction for underground structures, including driven piles, sheet piles, tieback anchors, etc.
  • Inspection and testing of excavated subgrades, drainage systems, and structural fill.
  • Attending site construction meetings to discuss construction problems, review specialty needs, coordinate with other service providers, and understand schedules. Communicating with the site project management team and the leadership and the peer engineer team.
  • Installation of instrumentation in conjunction with the Instrumentation Engineers, and using instrument data in the inspection process.
  • Instrument training and use may include Vibrating Wire Piezometers, Casagrande Piezometers, inclinometer casing installations and reading, vibration sensors, crack monitors, assisting with AMTS survey equipment and targets, and assembly of borehole instruments.
  • Inspection of controlled fill, placement, compaction, and protection. This may include performing sand cone density QA testing to confirm QC testing by specialty test contractors.

Requirements:

  • PE license in New York is preferred.
  • 2+ years experience inspecting construction.
  • Familiarity with subsurface investigations, borings, sampling, and field testing.
  • Familiar with documenting instrument installations and taking and interpreting instrument readings.
  • Experience performing field testing for Code Compliance.

Why apply?

  • Working on interesting projects: track record of engaging in a wide range of challenging projects, including underground structures, foundations, and waterfront structures. These projects will provide valuable experience and the opportunity to contribute creatively to construction goals.
  • Limited travel: Unlike other construction inspection roles, you will not have to travel extensively outside the five New York City boroughs. Enjoy the stability of working on local projects while staying close to home.
  • Joining one of the leading geotechnical companies in New York offers a strong reputation and a solid foundation for your career growth.

Salary range: 90 000$ – 160 000$/year depending on the experience level.

The firm offers very competitive salaries, overtime pay, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, medical benefits, life insurance, TransitChek commuter benefit, a 401(k) plan, and other benefits options to full-time employees.
