Global Regulatory Ecotoxicologist – Leading Organisation

Location: Cologne – Hybrid Working Available

To support the organisation’s sustained growth, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Global Regulatory Ecotoxicologist to join their dynamic Global Environmental Safety team.

Key Responsibilities

As a Global Regulatory Ecotoxicologist, you will play a critical role in supporting global pesticide product registrations from an environmental safety perspective. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical expertise and developing ecotoxicology strategies to achieve registrations globally with minimal restrictions.
  • Designing, contracting, and monitoring ecotoxicology studies in laboratory and field settings.
  • Conducting risk assessments and preparing rebuttal documents to address regulatory comments.
  • Performing data gap analyses based on regulatory data requirements.
  • Staying updated on global regulatory guidelines and requirements for ecotoxicology.
  • Supporting global development teams by providing feedback at ideation and development stages.
  • Representing the company in regulatory meetings and actively participating in industry working groups, such as CropLife.
  • Defending the company’s position in the ecotoxicology area during discussions with global authorities.

Talent and Skills

We are seeking an individual with the following attributes and expertise:

  • Strong technical knowledge and expertise in ecotoxicology, with experience in areas such as population modelling, mixture toxicity, honeybees, aquatics, or soil organisms.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to design studies and develop higher-tier strategies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to interpret complex data.
  • Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to present scientific concepts to both expert and non-expert audiences.
  • Familiarity with environmental fate studies is advantageous.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of regulatory ecotoxicology experience, ideally within the agrochemical sector.
  • A degree in agricultural science, chemistry, or environmental sciences; advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Comprehensive understanding of global regulatory requirements for plant protection products.
  • Fluency in English (both spoken and written); additional languages are an asset.
  • Willingness to travel for regulatory meetings, industry events, and site visits.

Location:

This role is based in Cologne, with flexibility for hybrid working (3 days in the office and 2 days remote)
