Salary Range: $120,000 – $160,000
Role Overview:
The Senior Roadway Design Engineer will play a critical role in our engineering team, focusing on the design and review of roadway infrastructure projects. This position involves preparing detailed roadway designs, conducting engineering analyses, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex transportation projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design of roadway projects, including alignment, profiles, cross-sections, drainage, and traffic control plans.
- Develop and review construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Perform quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and construction feasibility assessments.
- Utilize industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation) to produce detailed designs.
- Ensure compliance with Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT)/New York Department of Transportation (NYDOT) standards and regulations.
- Conduct field investigations and perform site visits as required.
- Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and contractors to provide technical guidance and address design challenges.
- Coordinate with other disciplines such as traffic, stormwater, and geotechnical engineering teams to ensure project integration.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and staff in developing technical and project management skills.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in roadway design, including alignment, drainage, and grading.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Connecticut/New York or ability to obtain one.
- Extensive experience with Connecticut/New York roadway design standards (CTDOT/NYDOT experience preferred).
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation.
- Strong project management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
