Job Title: Duty Hub Social Worker
Location: Wolverhampton area
Pay Rate: £33.30 per hour
Contract Type: Temporary
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week)

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and resilient Social Worker to join our Duty Hub team in the Wolverhampton area. This is a frontline, high-impact role focused on urgent safeguarding responses and short-term intervention for vulnerable children and families. You will handle incoming referrals, assess risk, and coordinate prompt action in collaboration with multi-agency partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for incoming referrals related to children in need, at risk, or in crisis.

  • Complete initial assessments, gather relevant information, and make immediate decisions on appropriate action.

  • Apply safeguarding procedures and legal frameworks to protect children and families.

  • Work closely with health professionals, police, education staff, and other key agencies to ensure a coordinated response.

  • Accurately record all decisions and actions using case management systems.

  • Where appropriate, prepare and pass cases on to longer-term teams or escalate for further action.

  • Participate in duty rota and contribute to a supportive team environment.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification such as DipSW, CQSW).

  • Registration with Social Work England.

  • Recent frontline experience in children’s services, particularly in a duty, MASH, or safeguarding context.

  • Strong understanding of child protection legislation, thresholds, and procedures.

  • Confidence in making autonomous decisions under pressure.

  • Excellent communication, assessment, and recording skills.

  • Enhanced DBS check (must be current or obtained prior to start).

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience using case management systems such as Liquidlogic.

  • Familiarity with Signs of Safety or other strengths-based models.

  • Previous work in the West Midlands or similar local authority setting.
