Essential Functions:
- Develop and implement traffic engineering strategies to optimize transportation systems, including traffic signals, signage, pavement markings, intersection design, and planning studies.
- Present project findings and proposals to clients and public stakeholders.
- Support multi-modal projects, including highway, bus, rail, bicycle, and pedestrian initiatives, in diverse environments such as urban, suburban, and rural areas.
- Prepare documentation and design plans for traffic control devices, including traffic signals, signing, pavement markings, temporary traffic control, lighting, and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS).
- Utilize traffic engineering software and modeling tools to simulate and analyze traffic patterns, network capacity, and performance.
- Stay current with advancements in traffic engineering practices, technologies, and industry trends.
- Prepare technical reports and perform quality control reviews to ensure deliverable accuracy and integrity.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
- 5-10 years of progressive experience in traffic engineering design and/or analysis.
- Strong writing, verbal communication, and public presentation skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., MUTCD, AASHTO, ITE, Highway Safety Manual, Highway Capacity Manual).
- Proficiency with traffic engineering software and modeling tools, such as Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, HCS, and/or Sidra.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to mentor junior engineers.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- PTOE certification.
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field.
