Principal Civil Engineer – Lead Multimodal Transportation Projects

About the Role:

As a Principal Civil Engineer, you will:

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams in designing and delivering multimodal transportation infrastructure.
  • Oversee all aspects of project development, from design and permitting to bid packages and construction support.
  • Manage complex roadway and corridor design projects, including urban streetscapes, trail projects, and transit-oriented developments.
  • Use design software like AutoCAD and Civil 3D to produce and supervise high-quality construction documents.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to deliver projects that prioritize safety, sustainability, and community impact.
  • Support business development efforts, including preparing proposals and scopes/fees.

Key Qualifications:

We’re seeking a candidate with:

  • Professional Engineering License in MA (additional Northeast licenses a plus).
  • 15+ years of engineering experience, including roadway design, drainage design, and geometric design.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar.
  • Demonstrated success managing large, complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating utilities, right-of-way impacts, and permitting processes.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor junior engineers.

Experience with multimodal transportation, transit projects, or advanced roadway design (e.g., NACTO standards, MUTCD compliance) is highly desirable.
