Job Title: Social Worker – Family Help Service

Location: South West London
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: Up to £51,000 per annum
Bonus: £5,000 welcome bonus + up to £8,000 relocation package
Annual Leave: 40 days (including bank holidays)
Start Date: ASAP or upon notice period


About the Role:

We are recruiting experienced and passionate Social Workers to join a newly developed Family Help Service within a forward-thinking local authority in South West London. This is an exciting opportunity to join a service designed to reduce caseloads, improve support, and deliver impactful work with families.

This role offers the chance to work in small, supportive pods under the highly regarded Family Safeguarding Model. The focus is on early intervention and relationship-based practice with children and families.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Hold a caseload of approximately 17 children, with 15-16 cases at Child in Need (CIN) level – mostly low complexity

  • Manage a maximum of 1-2 Child Protection (CP) cases

  • Work in a pod structure (5 social workers per team) with direct access to a Team Manager

  • Deliver strength-based, trauma-informed interventions in line with the Family Safeguarding Model

  • Work collaboratively with co-located professionals including Domestic Abuse Practitioners, Substance Misuse Workers, Adult Mental Health Practitioners, and others

  • Prepare assessments, reports, and court documents as required

  • Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings

  • Maintain up-to-date, accurate case recordings using electronic case management systems

  • Work towards timely and positive outcomes for children and families

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker (BA/MA Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent)

  • Registered with Social Work England

  • Minimum 2 years’ post-qualifying experience in statutory children’s services

  • Experience working with CIN and CP cases

  • Familiarity with the Family Safeguarding Model (or willingness to train)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships with children, families, and professionals

  • A commitment to strengths-based, family-focused practice
